Blog Posts and Websites; Building an Identity and a Community

I have been toying with the idea for a while, and though I'm still not sure I qualify, I would like to spend more time building community with and perusing the works of other creatives. One of the ways that I have to do this though is to create my own content - no one is interested in interacting with someone who doesn't create on their own.

Then, there is the second problem: social media sucks. I will be using Bluesky as well, but what I would really like is to spend more time on real websites and blogs again, looking at real work by real people, not what some algorithm thinks I am most likely to enjoy or, equally often, get mad at.

To this end, I am starting two new ventures on this website. The first is a blog where I will talk as I am able to about things that interest me, things I'm writing or translating, and things I'm researching. The second is a mass of links, to other people whose work I consider interesting or think others might. The only requirement for me to but you on the list is to maintain a somewhat up-to-date website, and to write things on it in some way. I will try to organize it, so if you're interested in being included, I would ask that you give me a 'tag' or two that you think your website would fall under. Equally, if you find your website on here and for some reason don't want it to be, please ping me and I will remove it ASAP!

One last note, on generative AI: It's a really neat tool that will absolutely not be represented on this website. This is for real human creatives. Even if the thing you use it for is not what you create (eg. art for a story you wrote) that is disqualifying. We need to stand together against gen AI across creative pursuits, and its normalisation in any space could be the end of all of them.
